DoubleBack Xtreme Pack

I have been using this bag for the last couple months and will continue to use it in order to keep working out the kinks. I do like the bag BUT there is room for improvement.

Ok, first the good:

1- The fleece shell is great, nice and quiet. Perfect for getting in close.

2- The bottom bow/platform it works….

Now the Bad:

1- The bag was clearly designed around a specific platform/stick combo, any other combo and things get “tight” at best when securing everything.

2- Straps/buckles are often fully extended in order to secure a platform/sticks. An optional strap extension kit would be nice.

3- Back support, there is none. Bags in the same price range have some type of internal frame.

4- waist band- Who’s it designed for? I’m 6ft 215lbs and can not use it as designed with the extra synch buckle.

5- The pockets seemed to be an after thought.

6- Molle loops on the waist band but don’t offer any accessories. I have to add other accessories that now take away from the silent qualities of this bag.

I grabbed one of these bags this summer and took it on a camping trip, then pre-season scouting, and now it’s in the stand. It’s quiet, has a great camo pattern, and doesn’t reflect light, but my favorite features are the thoughtfully placed compartments inside and outside of the bag! My favorite 2 pouches are inside the top flap. When you open your bag, they lay perfectly open without spilling your gear.

Summary: Perfect size/Quiet/ Secure/Simple/Versatile

My 3-year search for the perfect pack has finally come to an end. Since I switched to saddle hunting, I have yet to find the right pack to help me achieve the minimalist experience I’ve been looking for. Traditional back packs are great, but most cannot fit a saddle platform inside. The packs that are big enough for the platform typically do not have a practical solution to carry climbing sticks/ climbing spikes. Historically, I've been forced to get creative and modify my packs to accommodate these needs, leaving me looking, feeling and sounding like a clanky pack mule on my way into the woods.

Surprisingly, the DoubleBack Xtreme is sized just right and is hunt-ready, right out of the box. It allows me to quietly and securely haul my platform and climbing spikes to the tree, along with space and compartments for anything else that I may need in the woods. The versatility of the pack allows for many different setup options. Being sized just right, no matter how you use it, you can be certain your gear will be secure and transported quietly. Fantastic job with this. I’m excited to use it this season!
